2025 CWHBA Foundation -- Cliff Tenasse Scholarship

The Central Washington Home Builders Association (CWHBA) is proud to support the next generation of professionals in the residential construction industry. We are dedicated to fostering skill development and education within our service counties. This year, we are offering one organization grant and six individual scholarships to students pursuing construction-related programs.

Scholarship and Grant Awards

  • Organization Grant: One grant of $2,500 awarded to a qualifying construction program or organization.
  • Individual Scholarships: One scholarship of $2,500. Five additional scholarships of $1,000 each.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a construction-related program in the following service counties: Yakima, Kittitas, Klickitat, Okanogan, Chelan, or Douglas.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a career in the construction industry.
  • Academic achievement, community involvement, and financial need will be considered.
  • For the organization grant, the application must be submitted by an authorized representative of the construction program or organization.

Application Requirements

  • Completed application form.
  • Proof of enrollment or acceptance into a construction-related program.
  • A brief essay (500 words maximum) detailing the applicant's interest in the construction industry and how the scholarship will help achieve their career goals.
  • For organizations applying for the grant, a detailed proposal outlining how the funds will benefit students in construction programs must be included.
  • Recent photo of yourself for publishing. 
  • Submission Deadline: All applications must be submitted by March 31, 2025.

Selection Process

  • After April 1, 2025, applications will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the CWHBA.
  • Recipients will be selected based on merit, financial need, and the potential impact of their proposed use of the funds.

This submission can be in the form of an essay, video, or sound byte and should be no more than 500 words or 3 minutes. 

In your personal statement, please:

  • Reflect on your experiences, values, and how they align with our mission to promote sustainable building practices and strengthen our community's presence.
  • Tell us how your unique perspective and contributions can make a meaningful impact on the industry. 
  • Consider your experiences within and beyond academia, as well as your passion for innovation and positive change within the construction sector. 

Your personal statement should be a compelling narrative that showcases your dedication to advancing the industry's goals.
